Our story
It started with a naked hug at a resort in Mexico. You know the kind of resort. What followed was drinks, dinner, and amazing conversation. A connection that we had not found to that point in our lifestyle journey. We exchanged numbers and made plans.
In the conversations and visits that followed, we began to discuss what we really wanted with a connection and what we really liked about our connection. Why did this kind of connection seem so difficult to find?
We had tried other options in order to connect with others. Sorting through the profiles that seemed dormant, the catfishing profiles, the profiles where only half of the couple was involved. Interfaces straight out of 2000. Apps that rarely worked.
We deserved better. The community deserved better.
So we built it.
Between the four of us we had everything we needed — the technical skills to build it right, the research instincts to understand what the community had been asking for and never received, the writing to speak to the community honestly, and the health expertise to address the part of this world that every other platform completely ignores.
aligned is the platform that we wish we had at the beginning of our journey. It solved the problems we had discovered. Additionally it offers fine-grained search options, all refined by you. It is built on the values that week in Mexico and the communication that followed taught us. Trust is earned not assumed. Both people in a couple have an equal voice. Privacy is not a luxury feature. The community deserves a platform that takes it seriously.
We launched this with our own money, our own time, and a founding circle of members who believed in it before it existed.
