DMCA & Copyright Policy
Last updated: 2026-05-27
J4 Enterprises LLC d/b/a Aligned ("Aligned", "we") respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects users of our platform (the "Service") to do the same. We comply with the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 (the "DMCA"), 17 U.S.C. § 512, and respond to clear notices of alleged copyright infringement that meet the requirements set out below.
1. What you may not do
You agree not to upload, post, share, distribute, or transmit through the Service any content that:
- You do not own or have a valid license to use;
- Infringes any third party's copyright, trademark, trade secret, right of publicity, or other proprietary right;
- Was created by copying, scraping, mirroring, repurposing, or republishing copyrighted material without permission; or
- Otherwise misappropriates the work of another person or entity.
Account holders are responsible for everything posted under their account, including content uploaded by a linked partner.
2. Submitting a DMCA takedown notice
If you believe that content available through the Service infringes a copyright you own or are authorized to enforce, you may submit a written takedown notice to our designated DMCA agent. To be effective under the DMCA, your notice must include all of the following:
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on their behalf;
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed (or, for multiple works at the same site, a representative list);
- Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing or the subject of the infringing activity, with enough detail to permit us to locate the material on the Service (a profile URL, photo URL, or message ID is usually enough);
- Your name, address, telephone number, and email address;
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and
- A statement that the information in the notification is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act on behalf of the owner of the exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.
3. Designated DMCA agent
Send takedown notices to our designated agent at:
DMCA Agent: J4 Enterprises LLC
Email: legal@alignedsocial.app (subject line: "DMCA Notice")
Address: c/o Registered Agent, 8 The Green, STE B, Dover, DE 19901, United States
Email is the fastest channel and our preferred method. Notices sent by physical mail will be processed in the order received and may take longer.
4. What happens after a valid notice
On receipt of a notice that substantially complies with the DMCA, we will promptly remove or disable access to the material identified in the notice and take reasonable steps to notify the user who uploaded it. We will not investigate the merits of the claim; that is for the courts or, if you choose, a counter-notice procedure (below) to resolve.
5. Submitting a counter-notice
If you believe content of yours was removed in error (for example, you own the copyright or have a license, or the use is fair use), you may submit a written counter-notice to the agent listed above. Your counter-notice must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature;
- Identification of the material that was removed and the location at which it appeared before removal;
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification;
- Your name, address, telephone number, and email address; and
- A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the U.S. Federal District Court for the judicial district in which your address is located (or, if outside the U.S., for any judicial district in which Aligned may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who provided the original takedown notice or their agent.
Upon receipt of a valid counter-notice, we may restore the removed material in 10–14 business days unless the original complainant first files a court action seeking a restraining order.
6. Repeat infringer policy
It is our policy to terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who are determined to be repeat infringers. We may also limit access to the Service and/or terminate the accounts of any users who infringe any intellectual property rights of others, whether or not there is any repeat infringement. An account associated with three or more valid DMCA takedown notices in any rolling 12-month period will ordinarily be terminated.
7. False notices
The DMCA provides that you may be liable for damages (including costs and attorneys' fees) if you knowingly and materially misrepresent that content is infringing. Please do not submit a notice unless you have a good-faith belief that the material complained of infringes your rights.
8. AI-generated and synthetic content
Aligned does not generate images, video, audio, or synthetic likenesses of real people. The platform's AI features are limited to short text suggestions (icebreakers, compatibility notes, profile copy guidance) based on a member's own self-authored profile data. Even so, members may not upload, post, share, or distribute through the Service any AI-generated, AI-modified, or otherwise synthetic image, video, or audio of any real person without that person's documented, explicit consent. See our Community Guidelines for the full prohibition on deepfakes and non-consensual synthetic media.
9. Relationship to our Terms
This DMCA & Copyright Policy is incorporated into our Terms of Service. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meanings given to them in the Terms.
